The Storm has arrived in the DMV!

Unboxing the Petrof Storm P194.

Today marks a meaningful moment for our dealership as we welcome the Petrof Storm into our boutique piano collection. This instrument is more than a new arrival — it represents a thoughtful selection rooted in a passion for sound, art, and a deep respect for Central European craftsmanship.

We first encountered the Petrof Storm at the Akoustika Conference in Germany, an event that brings together some of the world’s most prestigious piano makers. Surrounded by elite instruments from Steinway, Steingraeber, Fazioli, and others, the standard for touch, responsiveness, and build-quality was exceptionally high. Yet among its peers, the Storm captivated us with its unique tone.

When playing the Storm, one immediately notices how sustained notes blend together in a rich bloom of colors and tones. This tonal palette is easy to control and access, but playing feels wild and expressive. Its massive sound is capable of both intimacy and a commanding presence. These qualities are not accidental — they are the product of careful design, manufacturing precision, and more than 160 years of pianomaking.

The Storm is a sizable 6’4” in length and uses an action made by Renner, the foremost piano action manufacturer from Germany for the past 150 years. This action provides the Storm with world-class touch and responsiveness.

This elite instrument comes from a storied European piano maker. Founded in 1864, Petrof has been crafting pianos for over 160 years. Each piano is at least 80% handmade, incorporating both traditional methods and new technologies for an optimal result. Still family-run under its sixth generation of leadership, Petrof embodies tradition, artistry, and Czech craftsmanship at its highest level.

The Petrof Storm is not simply an addition to our inventory — it is a carefully chosen instrument that reflects our values as technicians, dealers, and musicians. We are proud to offer it as part of our collection, and we are excited to share the best of global piano making to piano enthusiasts in the Mid-Atlantic.
