Petrof European piano repair shop in Czech Republic vintage grand pianos imported to DC area sold in Vaulted Keys piano business

Historical excellence

Petrof has been crafting pianos since Antonin Petrof made his first piano in 1864. In those days, Petrof excelled and was in demand across Europe, with Antonin becoming the official Piano Maker of the Court for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The company has weathered the evolution of the piano industry, navigating historical economic and political challenges (including Soviet nationalization). Today, Petrof thrives as an elite creator of luxury European pianos.

Return to prominence

Since the family regained ownership in 2001 after the Soviet experience, quality has blossomed. The current company president Anna Petrof represents the 6th generation of family ownership. Since her mother, Suzana (pictured), took over operations in 2004, Petrof pianos have regained standing against it’s counterparts. It is now regarded as an elite piano maker, once again.

Tonal chocolate

Petrof tone often get described as warm and romantic. It’s more Brunello than Pinot. More Brahms than Mozart. More cello than oboe. Petrof takes great care using the latest in technological advances for implementing improvements and innovations, all while preserving its unique, historical tone.
