Looking Back: Our Sponsorship of the Virginia Chamber Orchestra’s Performance of Carnival for the Animals

A little taste of the show.

On April 11, Vaulted Keys Piano had the privilege of sponsoring the Virginia Chamber Orchestra's family concert, Animal Crackers, at The Vault inside Capital One Hall in Tysons, Virginia. The program featured two beloved works of musical storytelling — Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals — performed by the Virginia Chamber Orchestra. The group performed under the direction of Music Director David Grandis (Director of Orchestras at the College of William & Mary).

As part of our sponsorship, Vaulted Keys Piano provided two grand pianos for the performance: our PETROF "Windy" grand piano and a Yamaha G2. These instruments were featured by dual soloists Misha Tumanov and Yejin Lee for Saint-Saëns' classic Carnival of the Animals. They brought energy, precision, and flair to the demanding score. In addition to the pianists, the score featured solos across the orchestra, including the famous “Swan” cello solo (perfomed by Kang Xia). The various soloists animated Saint-Saëns' musical portraits of lions, elephants, kangaroos, birds, and other creatures, which delighted the family audience.

The Virginia Chamber Orchestra continues to enrich Northern Virginia's cultural landscape through accessible, engaging performances that connect audiences with classical music. This concert was part of the orchestra's "Season of Storytelling," a series designed to bring narratives and imagination to life through orchestral performance.

The setting was equally special. The Vault — Capital One Hall's intimate performance venue — provided an up-close concert experience that allowed audience members to sit in close proximity to the pianos and orchestra.

We would like to thank the Virginia Chamber Orchestra, David Grandis, Misha Tumanov, Yejin Lee, Capital One Hall, DLM Moving & Delivery, and everyone involved in making this performance possible. We are honored to have played a small part in helping bring this wonderful concert to the stage!
